2017 ACSG Conference Brochure and Programme


The theme for the 37th annual SA Assessment Centre Study Group (ACSG) conference to be held from 5 to 7 April 2017 at the NH Lord Charles in Somerset West, South Africa is:


The value gain(ed) through Assessment and Development Centres


Some contributions from our keynote speakers and presenters will focus on:

  • The return on investment businesses can and have gained from investing in ACs and/or DCs;
  • The personal benefits participants have gained from attending a centre;
  • Value gained from creating a learning-culture through using centres;
  • The contribution ACs have made in business re-engineering processes;
  • The personal and business value practitioners gained from selling and facilitating centres;
  • Lessons learned where there were no gains; and
  • How to design and facilitate centres to make it more time and cost effective through using technology, shorter and more powerful exercises, computer generated reporting and software driven classification, scoring and reporting tools, etc.

The keynote speaker at this year’s conference is Filip Lievens, who is professor at the department of Personnel Management and Work and Organisational Psychology at Ghent University in Belgium with his keynote address: A Modular Approach to Assessment: Webcam and Speed Assessment as Examples.


Pre-conference Workshops and Conference Structure

FOUR PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS will take place on Wednesday, 5 April 2017. Both local and international presenters will conduct workshops. Each of the workshops will be four hours long to give enough time for interaction between presenters and delegates.  Two workshops will be presented consecutively in the morning and two consecutively in the afternoon.

CONFERENCE on Thursday, 6 and Friday 7 April 2017 will include keynote presentations, plenary sessions, practitioner sessions and a training symposium relevant to the conference theme as well as two presentations on ethics.

EXHIBITIONSfeaturing industry leaders will provide you with the assistance you need to find the right assessment tools to help make an impact in your organisation.

The ACSG applied for CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)points for this year’s conference which will be published on the ACSG website as soon as accreditation is received.
