WHO IS THE AC ACADEMY?

THE AC ACADEMY AIMS TO ESTABLISH COMPETENCE WITH AC PRACTITIONERS TO THE BENEFIT OF ALL STAKEHOLDERS (AC PRACTITIONERS, AC PARTICIPANTS AND AC CLIENTS).

MISSION AND VISION

The mission of the AC Academy is to establish and transfer competence to AC practitioners to design, implement and research ACs according to best practice and ethical guidelines that support talent management objectives in organisations. This is done through various training interventions.

The vision of the AC Academy is to promote excellent AC competence of South African, African and international AC practitioners to ensure the ethical, scientific and needs-driven delivery of ACs in organisations.

CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD):

Each training module will be accredited and participants can earn up to 14 CEUs per training module.

DURATION OF TRAINING MODULES:

Online via eLearning in your own time.

MODULE 1 | OBSERVER 101

INTRODUCTION TO BEHAVIOUR OBSERVATION DURING AN ASSESSMENT CENTRE

PURPOSE OF MODULE 1

Part of the reliability and validity of an Assessment Centre depends on using competent observers – people who have proven their competence in Observing behaviour, Noting behaviour, Classifying behaviour and Evaluating behaviour (ONCE). However, these are skills that need to be learned and continuously practised to ensure competence.

THE PURPOSE OF OBSERVER 101 IS TO INTRODUCE THE POTENTIAL OBSERVER TO ONCE AND TO LAY THE FOUNDATION FOR EVENTUALLY BECOMING A COMPETENT OBSERVER.

COURSE OUTCOMES

We follow a behavioural approach to assessing behaviour displayed during simulations by centre participants. Observer 101 will therefore focus on training potential observers on ONCE. At the end of the course, the delegates will have an understanding how to:

  • Accurately identify behaviour

  • Correctly Observing behaviour during an interactive simulation

  • Accurately Noting behaviour during an interactive simulation

  • Objectively Classifying behaviour according to focal constructs; and

  • Fairly Evaluating behaviour according to norms.

  • Being knowledgeable about ethics when Observing, Noting, Classifying and Evaluating behaviour.

TARGET GROUPS

  • IO Psychologists

  • Psychometrists

  • People working in Human Resources or Training and Development

  • Anyone with a solid background in Human Behaviour

CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD):

Up to 14 CEUs can be earned by attending.

DURATION OF TRAINING MODULES:

Two days.

MODULE 2 | DESIGNING CENTRES

THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN ASSESSMENT CENTRE

PURPOSE OF MODULE 2

The purpose of Module 2 is to lay the foundation for participants to design and develop an Assessment Centre (AC) that will meet the important components required for AC validity. In addition, practitioners will have a solid platform to support practical initiatives with their clients.

THE AIM OF THIS MODULE IS TO TRANSFER SUFFICIENT SKILLS SO THAT, WITH PRACTICE, THE PARTICIPANTS ARE ON THE ROAD TO COMPETENCE.

COURSE OUTCOMES

  • Being able to practically implement stage 1 (Analysis) and stage 2 (Design and Development) of the AC Design Model

  • Being able to build a business case for an AC

  • Being able to identify competencies and simulations for use during the AC

  • Being able to compile an AC Blueprint that can be followed for AC development

  • Knowing how to involve the appropriate stakeholders during the design and development of the AC

  • Having a basic understanding of designing and developing simulations and simulation documentation

  • Being able to design the simulation sequence during the AC

  • Knowing how to compile an AC Administration Manual and AC Technical Manual

  • Being able to deliver a fully functional AC ready for implementation

  • Being able to design and develop an AC with ethics in mind.

COURSE CONTENT

Part 1 (Asynchronous eLearning)

The theory and practical guidelines on how to design and develop an AC are shared and discussed in a comprehensive, practical manner. Each section is concluded with a short knowledge test that must be passed (70% passing mark) before the participant is allowed to progress to the following section. The module also concludes with a knowledge test that is based on knowledge from the complete module.

TARGET GROUPS

Participants attending Module 2 should at least have attended an Assessment Centre and have a basic understanding of what an Assessment Centre entails. If participants have not yet attended an AC, arrangements can be made for the participants to attend a virtual assessment centre at an additional cost.
The typical target audience for Module 2 is:

  • Industrial and Organisational Psychologists

  • Psychometrists

  • People working in Human Resources or Training and Development departments

  • Anyone with a solid background in Human Behaviour

CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD):

  • Module 2, Part 1 (asynchronous) - 19 general CEUs and 2 ethics CEUs

DURATION OF TRAINING MODULES:

Module 2, Part 1 (asynchronous) - this can be done in your own time and at your own pace and takes between 20 and 25 hours to complete.
ding in-person.

AVAILABILITY OF MODULE 2

Module 2, part 1 is always available for attendance via the ACSG learning management platform (LMS).
