The world of work is changing, and with it, the way we understand, assess and develop people.
For decades, Assessment Centres have provided a powerful, evidence-based approach to understanding behaviour, capability and potential. Their strength lies not only in what they assess, but in how they bring together multiple methods, observations and perspectives to provide a richer understanding of people in relation to the demands of work.
Today, the Assessment Centre Method exists within an increasingly dynamic assessment landscape. Artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, new assessment approaches, changing organisational demands and advances in research are creating exciting possibilities, while also challenging us to think carefully about validity, fairness, ethics, inclusion and the human judgement that remain central to quality assessment.
It is within this changing landscape that the Assessment Centre Study Group (ACSG) invites you to join us for the 2027 ACSG Conference: Assessment Centres and Assessments: Forging the Future with Intelligence, Innovation, Impact.
Our theme invites us to look forward, without losing sight of the foundations and ethical principles that have made Assessment Centres such a valuable and trusted methodology.
How can we harness intelligence, human, scientific, data-driven and artificial to strengthen Assessment Centres and other assessment practices? How can innovation enhance the way we design, administer, observe, integrate and interpret assessment while protecting the rigour, fairness, ethics and professional standards on which credible practice depends? And how do we ensure that our work ultimately creates impact for individuals, organisations and society?
These are conversations that cannot take place in isolation.
The 2027 ACSG Conference will bring together Assessment Centre practitioners, researchers, psychologists, psychometrists, senior HR and talent leaders, academics, consultants, assessment specialists and solution providers from South Africa and beyond. It will create a space where research meets practice, experience meets innovation, and established thinking is both strengthened and challenged by new possibilities.
Across workshops, virtual engagement and two vibrant days of in-person conferencing, we will explore developments in Assessment Centres and the wider world of assessment, from emerging research and evolving best practice to technology, artificial intelligence, ethics, innovative methodologies and practical applications in organisations.
But an ACSG Conference has always been about more than presentations and professional learning. It is also about people and connection — reconnecting with colleagues, expanding our professional networks, meeting new people, exchanging experiences, debating ideas, building partnerships and having the conversations over coffee / tea that sometimes spark the next great idea.
And, importantly, we intend to have some fun along the way! We want ACSG 2027 to be a conference where serious professional conversations sit comfortably alongside laughter, friendship, new connections and the energy that comes from being together with people who share a passion for what we do.
We also extend a warm invitation to organisations, sponsors, exhibitors and solution providers who are helping to shape the future of Assessment Centres and assessment.
